A retreat to the desert creates a space of surrender and acceptance, limits and potential, connection and awe. The Spring House Hermitage is available for a solitary experience.
The Spring House Hermitage
The Spring House Hermitage was the first structure started on the property back in 1997. Completed in July 2009, the Hermitage utilizes the sandstone clifftop as its foundation and floor. The D-shaped stone building comfortably rises from the rock in virtually undisturbed surroundings, giving one the feeling that it is now part of this cliff. Spring House is a solitary hermitage located one mile from the center at the end of the Hermitage Trail.
The Hermitage is available for the length of time beneficial to your spiritual journey. We have had guests spend a quiet afternoon, a star-filled night, and even up to 40 days.
The Hermitage Trail
The Hermitage is modestly equipped with a futon, cabinet, small sitting area, and propane cooking stove. There is no electricity or heat source, water must be brought in, and an outhouse serves as the bathroom facility. We like to call it "glorified camping", and guests seem to love it.
